LEWISTON — John D. Maguire Jr., 66, of Bear Pond Road, North Turner, died peacefully, Saturday, April 2, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Lewiston, March 16, 1945, a son of the late John D. and Mary (McCarthy) Maguire Sr. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1963. He then went on to graduate from Plymouth State University, with a master’s in education.
John was a teacher for many years, teaching at Lewiston Jr. High School, University of Maine at Augusta and most recently at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.
John loved sports, was an avid golfer and enjoyed horse racing, but most of all loved his daughters. He will be missed for his great sense of humor and his ability to have a positive attitude no matter what life dealt him.
He leaves his two daughters, Shannon and Meagan Maguire of North Turner; a stepdaughter, Carina Masterman of Turner; his former wife and best friend, Valarie Maguire of North Turner; a sister, Mary Murphy and her husband, Dennis, of Portland; and several cousins including, Louise Hamilton.
